Our own BBS?

Say, I wonder...do you think we can make our own BBS board? How do you make one anyway? Maybe I'll make one for the club! Maybe...eh? Currently in a BBS-craze can be pretty scary...

I hope you don't have to pay or anything...

though you first need to find a free webhosting site to put the codes from the links above in and etc... ;_; it's confusing x_x

i think paintchat is definitely easier to do, but we might have problems getting everyone online at the same time for a session... we'd have to schedule when to host a room/network, and i don't know how many people will use it. then again we can just always continue attacking the chalkboards at school instead... XD sorry for being off topic, but Helen mentioned it, so i thought...

BBS is best, i think, but making one seems mind-boogling. >_<

Hmm...by the way Helen, how did you make this website? As in this forum for Mangaka?

well forums are easier to make since the layout and coding is pretty much set for you(since all forums generally look the same) i simply change the colors in the coding, add the banner, type in stuff, and personalize the settings.
for making actual sites, not forums, you need to know your html well x_x
it's basically a system of folders. a folder to upload all the pics(banners/bg/buttons), a .html for each page of the site, etc.
i had a site before but i never had time to learn html well so i supplied my friend with all the pics and had him do the coding for me(he's soo gooddd). once the general coding is up, i can do minor html edits and adds with uploaded pics and text. but that site stopped giving free hosting so i closed it =/

Eheh...thanks, but I guess I just took the short way out. I mean, its from a Japanese site...oh well, good thing I can at least make out hiragana and katakana...

Also, is it possible to install an avatar system in this sort of ste? If not...oh well.

icic. so it's like a preset and we just have to change colors and options. not much room to personalize it.
ehh duno about the avatar sis. in oekakicentral, ppl have to log in so they put their avatar in their profile, but this one doesn't require an account to draw on it..

Um, well, I don't think it's the laptop being the problem. I think it gets kind of glitchy sometimes; its happened to me once too. Sorry I'm not much help.

If all else fails, take a screenshot of what you drew by pressing Print Screen (on the top right of your keyboard), and then open up a program like MS Paint and press Ctrl V. Then at least you can save your pic.

uhh, is there an option to set up a requirement to login to comment? Maybe you could do that.

Ooh...yeah, about those spammers, I've had a rough time deleting those too, since there're just so many of them.

I don't know if there's any way to stop it though, since it is a public board without any login...

Oh dear...in my idiotic attempt to try to find a way to fix the spammer problem, I accidentally ended up erasing the Board layout...um... I'm really sorry.

han: the script for that site was ready-made for anyone who wants an oekakibbs board. in the admin section, i'm only allowed to change color/bg links/banners/sizes/and etc...like the basic stuff. there's no where where we can input our own html in. and even if we could...i have no idea what kind of code is needed for a login function. x_X;

I guess that's the disadvantage of a free and specialized board, maybe if there was a way to integrate it as a part of the forum...

And I'm sorry I can't help much with the BBS board. I guess...it was the best I could do that was free, and I guess I'm not good enough yet to actually make an actual website with an oekaki board included...*sigh*

don't sweat it. most people don't know how to make sites.
it's still a good board =]
